When the stage
hypnotist picks people from the audience, he will quickly
test his subjects for suggestibility. Have them breath in
and out and follow other simple instructions. If they don't readily do
what he tells them to he rejects them and sends them back to
their seat. Once all subjects are selected, usually about
a dozen or so, he then builds mental expectancy. “Put on a good
show”, he says “This is entertainment, play along, have fun!”
As the show
proceeds, you’ll notice that more and more people drop out and
look as though they are sleeping, and he ignores them. Why?
Because they are rejecting his suggestions! They don’t want to
play anymore! They will not do what he's telling them to
do.
So you see, even the
stage hypnotist can't make you do things. I work really
hard in my office so people won't reject my suggestions, and
those are suggestions that will help them! Believe me, you
are in more control of yourself when hypnotized, not less.
“At
the count of 3, stand up, drop your pants and sing us a song."
Ah… I don’t think so!
