Researchers Dolf
Zillman and Jennings Bryant showed that continued exposure to
pornography had serious adverse effects on beliefs about sexuality
in general and on attitudes toward women in particular.
Police officers
have seen the impact pornography has had on serial murders. In fact,
pornography consumption is one of the most common profile
characteristics of serial murders and rapists.
When working with this problem we can quickly determine WHY
it is happening. This behavior usually has simple
roots. The child finds "dads stash" of pornography and it has
a huge emotional impact. It is the first time that the child
is introduced to these types of images and feelings. This is a
very common cause to what can lead to overt pornography addiction.
The old adage that anything in
moderation is fine completely applies to pornography as well.
Let's face it, if you view too much
pornography you are conditioning yourself to it. After a while
you may need more and more stimulus to gain the stimulus you used to
have by just looking at a naked body (without the overt acts of
sexuality added.) If this conditioning continues you
may end up acting out in ways that you never would have as before
the conditioning, it may change you as a person.
Fortunately this process can be
stopped and you can return to where you were prior to this overt
stimulus... but it does have to stop. This is NOT embarrassing
for you in session and it is completely a private matter for you.
We can quickly find out where all of this
started and change your perceptions with regard to this "habit" you
have found yourself in.
